Verifying Employment History in India
Employment verification fails most often on process, not on deception. Knowing where the record actually sits is half the work.

Where the Record Lives
Designation, dates and separation status sit with the employer's HR record. Statutory contributions, where applicable, provide an independent cross-check on continuity of employment.
A relieving letter is a document produced for the employee. It corroborates; it does not establish.
Common Failure Points
Four issues account for most unresolved verifications.
- Entities that have merged, closed or been renamed since the tenure
- Contract or third-party payroll arrangements where the stated employer never employed the person
- Consulting periods with no identifiable client or engagement
- Designations used internally but not recognised on the employer's record
Reporting Honestly
Where an employer will not respond, the correct output is 'not confirmed', with the reason stated. Recording a non-response as a pass is the most common defect in commercial verification reports.
