How to Read a Due Diligence Report
The most important sections of a report are the ones most readers skip: scope, sources and limitations.

Read the Scope First
A finding is only as broad as the question that was asked. Before the findings, establish what was in scope, what was deliberately excluded, and which jurisdictions were searched.
Separate the Three Registers
Verified fact, unconfirmed indication and analytical inference must be visibly distinct. Where a report blends them, treat the whole document as opinion.
Weigh the Limitations
A candid limitations section increases a report's value. Claimed completeness that the method cannot support is the more dangerous document.
