An enquiry should be limited to what the decision requires. Collecting material that has no bearing on the question is both a compliance failure and a professional one.

Four disciplines apply to any responsible verification programme.
- A defined lawful purpose recorded before collection begins
- Consent where the process requires it, obtained transparently
- Retention limited to the period the purpose requires
- Access restricted to those who need the finding to decide
Method Matters
Information obtained through unauthorised access to devices, accounts or communications is unlawful regardless of what it reveals, and exposes the commissioning organisation as much as the provider.
